Chapter 5

Anaya POV

"Anaya, coffee in my cabin. Now"

"Bringing"

I disconnected the call giving him the desired answer. This is the sixth cup of coffee in the past four hours. I just hope that this man passes out of excessive caffeine. He is just rubbing it in my face that he is now my boss.

I made the coffee and started walking towards his cabin when Mr. Mehta stopped me on my tracks saying,

"Aarav Sir is calling you since the past ten minutes! Why are you not answering the landline?"

"I have blocked his number."

I said with a bored expression clearly visible.

"What? Do we even have that feature in landlines?" he asked totally confused.

"Are you sure you got this job by merit?"

I asked looking at his face which instantly changed from confused to offended.

"How dare you!"

"Are you an idiot? Can't you see the cup of coffee! It was obvious that I was in the kitchen then how am I supposed to pick the call on the landline kept on my desk?"
I argued.

"You are the daughter of the CEO but that doesn't give you any right to insult your seniors."

"Move! You are blocking in the air." I said, moving past him and dashing towards his cabin.

"You will face the consequences!"
He intrigued.

"As if I am scared, go ahead!"

I said scoffing while making my way towards Mr. Bitter guard's cabin.
I knocked before opening the door and made my way inside on hearing the permit from him.

I entered and fuck!

He is reading a file with full conscience while spinning a pen in his left hand. His sleeves folded till his elbow, giving a full display of his veiny arms. His face adorned with white transparent thin framed spectacles and a few soft hair strands falling on his face. How can anyone look so calm yet ethereal at the same time!

Oh fuck! Focus Anaya!

"You just came here to ogle me or any special reason?" he asked shifting his glance to my face with raised brows.

"Yes! No! I came here to give your coffee. And...and you called me?" I asked stammering trying to frame words but as if my brain is not braining.

"Are you fumbling?" he asked with excitement laced.

"What? Me? Fumbling? No, never!" I intrigued with fake confidence and pure offense visible on my face.

"Yeah, sure!" he said with a twisted smile.

I moved forward placing the coffee on his table and asked," You were calling me on the landline. You have some work for me I guess?"

"Yes, I want you to go to the archive room and get me all the design plans for the apartments designed in the last five years. Also bring me all the reports of the raw materials used in the last five years so that we can formulate the new budget for the new project." he assigned the work which seemed like the whole week's work.

"But the file of raw materials is quite old. The design plans are in the better condition but that files are withered. We need to have a digital version for safer use." I suggested.

"Yes, so what do you think? I want you to enter all the data in the computer and mail me the file before you go home." he said casually as if he just stated a very obvious fact.

"What! It will take a hell lot of time." I argued.

"As if you don't have it!" he scoffed.

"Excuse me! Tumhare baap ki naukar nahi hu mai!" I yelled back with widened eyes.

"Correction miss, tum mere nahi apne baap ki naukar ho. Remember?" he replied with a mischievous smirk playing on his lips.

"Don't push my buttons Mr." I warned with a death glare.

"Firstly, I need the design plans. Then you can start working on the digital prints." he said shifting his focus again on the file he was reading before this beautiful conversation.

"Yes sir!" I replied more like a taunt in return of which I just got a satisfied smile. Huh! How much I want to scratch his face so that he can never smile again!

Author POV:

AT SARAF MANSION

"Maya aunty, get me a glass of water please!" Zeva asked tiredly keeping her bag on the couch, returning from college.

"Yes, Zeva beta, you get freshened up. I'll bring it in your room."

"A... aunty, where is Atharva?"

"He is studying in his room. Why?"

"Nothing."

Zeva went towards his room and slightly opened the door revealing Atharva studying with serene concentration.

"Atharva! Kya padh rahe ho?" She asked cheerfully making her way inside the room.

"Guidebook to get rid of a clingy girl." He answered not sparing a glance at her.

"Aww you are reading about me; I am so lucky!" She nearly jumped in excitement.

"You are mad" he scoffed.

"And you are super cute!" She replied with a pout.

"Why do you want this engineering degree? You already have a job and even your salary is great. Wait, are you planning to resign?"

"I always wanted to be an engineer. It's just that I had to leave studies and take up this job so I could support my family and take us out from that financial crisis. Anyways studies is not just to get a job, it is a matter of sensibility and the wider perspective you get when you are educated."

"Hmm, you are right!"

"Anyways, why are you here?"

"Just to watch you!"

"Go away now."

"Oh my God! So much love!"

"Come on, just leave already!"

"Uff I will get a heart attack! You know this much love is not good for my health!"

"This you think is love?"

"Anything from you is love for me."

"Drama company "

"Nickname given by beloved. I am lucky for real!"

She left the room dancing cheerfully, shutting the door loudly behind her.

"Gone case!" He muttered inside his breath.

At the Saraf hotel's office

"Oh god ye kaun sa kabaadkhaana banaya hai! Files hai ki milti hi nahi!"

Anaya cursed under her breath frustratingly wiping away the swear beads continuously dripping from her face.

She started looking everywhere while fanning herself with one hand the other one busy shuffling papers.

As time passed her breathing turned heavy with heat and panic increasingly palpable in the air.

She reached out for her inhaler in her pocket but found nothing.

"Oh shit! I forgot my inhaler. I need to get out of here." She said to herself pacing towards the door.

She pulled the door but unable to open it, she started trying more vigorously as her breathing turned more heavy, clearly audible.

Panic grew in her veins while she kept on attempting to open the door. It felt like it was stuck or the lock misfunctioned resulting in locking her up inside.

After a lot of failed attempts, she thought to ask for help.

"Anyone is there?"

"Hello"

"Can anyone listen my voice?"

"I'm stuck! Help please "

Despite of her loud plea, her voice left unattended as the archive room was located on the fourteenth floor with no other cabin on the floor.
No one usually visited the floor, yet it remained empty and the chances for any help were negligible.

"Where is this dumb head? Is she bringing the files from some other country or what!" Aarav muttered under his breath picking his phone and calling her personal cell.

Even after calling almost three times, the call remained unanswered.

"Oh god! The network here is so bad, I can't even make any calls! I'm totally stuck." Anaya said to herself, panic visible.

Her body started feeling numb and hotter while she kept on vigorously fanning herself trying to calm down the excessive heat but nothing seems to work as she finally fell unconscious on the floor.
